New Creative Website, Yes Please

One morning, I woke up and checked my email, only to discover a message from my personal website provider announcing their acquisition by a new parent company. However, as I delved deeper into this new parent company, I realized that the cost of website hosting was increasing significantly, with no added features or benefits. As someone who doesn’t mind paying for quality, I decided it was time to switch hosts.

In fact, I decided to take this opportunity to redesign my website from scratch, making it a more accurate representation of who I am and what I do. As someone who dabbles in web design, writing, photography, and various other pursuits, I felt limited by my previous CMS and wanted to explore new possibilities.

I’m excited to relaunch my personal site and share my fiction and screenwriting with the world. I also plan to update my photography and explore new avenues for creative expression. Additionally, I aim to challenge myself by learning more about web design, both front-end and back-end.

As a personal challenge, I’ve set a goal to build three unique and engaging websites by May. However, I’ve already encountered some challenges along the way, such as understanding the hierarchical relationship between WordPress, Theme, Elementor, and Plug-In, and staying patient throughout the process. I’ve also had to get creative with Elementor’s free version for features such as blog and photo lightboxes. I will talk about my simple workarounds in a later blog.

Despite these challenges, I’m excited to continue digging deeper and expanding my website. Here’s to a productive and fulfilling 2023.

Side note: This is a way dramatic stock art photo. I think I’ll just use ridiculous stock art for my blog posts. The wilder-somewhat tangentially related- the better.
